Sevara Nazarkhan - Uzbek music

Sevara Nazarkhan is an Uzbek singer. She doesn't live in Uzbekistan anymore, though. She lives in London and is working together with Peter Gabriel producing music, which seems to be more profitable than performing in Uzbekistan only. Nevertheless she is a pop star in Uzbekistan.

Kawaii - French Electro Pop from Paris

Kawaii is an electro pop group consisting of La Loutre and Big Bisous from Paris -- or let's rather say, Kawaiiland. And they are singing not so innocent nursery rhymes to the good little Kawaiians.

use their myspace to have a listen

Or just download two of their songs from here:

Kriwi - Belarusian folk rock

Kriwi is a Belarusian folk group that was created in 1996. They use many traditional instruments, they write about it in detail on their website. Unfortunately, I guess it's got something to do with the fact they are signed by a Western label, there is no complete mp3s of their songs online, just some samples. Hugh. So I can just show this video on youtube:

Global Sound - Great database about world music and culture online

As mentioned in the post before, Smithsonian Global Sound has to be mentiones. As far as I can oversee it by now, it's a great site that lets you discover a lot of artists and learn about culture from basically everywhere. Additionally you can buy the music if you like it, yeah ;).
It even allows you to browse their database by a language you like.
I think this site is great I wanted to put a link to it.

Stephen Tsotsi Kasumali - Zambian rock music!

Stephen Tsotsi Kasumali is a singer from Northern Zambia. He, together with William Mapulanga and John Lushi, can be called the the founding fathers of modern Zambian rock music. Unfortunately there's not really a lot online, but I found some samples on smithsonianglobalsound.org and on rhapsody.com (mind, though, that this link only allows you to listen to the sample if your IP address is within US ranges).

Efrat Gosh - Israeli pop music

Efrat Gosh is an Israeli singer producing pop music. She is also featured on the Metropolin album, which is a great source for more Israeli artists, too.

There's only some samples in .wma format on her official website

Barbara Morgenstern - Electronic music from Berlin

Well, she's quite well-known already. But nothing wrong with a small post about her here. Barbara Morgenstern is an electro-pop or call it whatever you want artist from Berlin, Germany.
Below is her song 'Augenblick'
